Rena removal cost similar to Concordia

The cost to remove the wreck of the Rena is second only to the cruise ship Costa Concordiain the Mediterranean, which is the most expensive in the world, says salvor Francis Leckey. It could be at least another 12 to 18 months before salvage operations are completed and the wreck of the Rena is removed. The Rena, a Liberian-flagged, Greece-owned container ship ran aground on the Astrolabe Reef off New Zealand’s Tauranga coast on October 5 last year.
